timing is everything, time is nothing

Eighteen years since my last post, quite sure I can improve the cadence.

We were posting photos with minimal commentary to pbase during this timeframe: 2003-2005. It was a raw version of social media, and the current version is virtually unchanged design and layout wise. It's like the CompuServe of photo sharing sites. We were in a loose set of friends around the world, at the beginning of the Photo-A-Day (PaD) gallery.

The challenge of finding a photo opportunity daily forces taking a second look at the seemingly banal. Yesterdays' B-roll continually build the plinth of memory each passing year.

Here we are near the end of 2023, the inflection point of sentient-like algorithms. As bots become super-intelligent and generations of humans skew the opposite way, it's as dark a time as any.

Dynamism though, is still possible, and truly all there is.

Music and family keep me sane, and I've curtailed the bulk of the undue self-loathing and self-doubt. Of course wish that could have happened sooner, but at least I have the cogency to see how damn far I've come.
